Amesbury Cardigan (English)

£6.50

This pattern is in English.

The Amesbury Cardigan has a saddle shoulder construction providing a modern twist on a classic and versatile shape.

The cardigan is worked from the top down. First the left and right shoulders are worked and stitches put on hold to form part of the sleeves. Stitches are then picked up along the back to work back and forth. Stitches are then picked up along the left and right fronts and worked back and forth whilst shaping the neckline. The fronts are joined to the back at the underarms and worked back and forth until the desired length is achieved. The body is finished with ribbing. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armhole to work with the stitches put on hold during the shoulder construction; short rows are worked to provide the perfect drape to the shoulders, followed by decreases to taper the sleeves whilst working in the round before finishing with ribbing. Finally, stitches are picked up on each edge of the cardigan to work the button band in double knitting with buttonholes along the right side. Lastly the neck is worked by picking up stitches along the edge and working ribbing.
